BuildUp Oregon Announces Expanded Role for LIIF

BuildUp Oregon

BuildUp Oregon is excited to announce that Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF) will take on a larger role in the program, expanding beyond the capacity-building support they already provide.

With LIIF’s growing role, Micro Enterprise Services of Oregon (MESO) will transition out of the BuildUp Oregon partnership. MESO has been a key partner since BuildUp Oregon launched in 2023. They’ve supported the creation and preservation of 2,279 child care seats across Oregon. The transition will allow MESO to focus its resources on core programs that advance community wealth-building.

Now with fewer partners, BuildUp Oregon plans to streamline customer service and grant decisions, ultimately reducing complexity and strengthening support for projects moving forward.

LIIF: A National Leader in Strengthening Child Care

LIIF brings deep national experience in child care facilities and capacity-building work. To date, they have invested $660 million nationwide to create, preserve, and enhance 430,000 child care spaces through 40,000 hours of technical assistance provided.

We’re grateful we get to deepen our partnership with LIIF as they take on an expanded role. Their role will now include managing the application process and providing direct technical assistance to providers and developers in our project pipeline.

In the following months, we’ll share more updates on this transition, which will include an introduction to LIIF’s team of Program Officers, who support applicants through every step of the grant process.

Looking Ahead to 2026

BuildUp Oregon remains committed to helping early care and education professionals access the capital, technical assistance, and resources they need to grow their businesses and increase their impact. This transition best positions the program to meet the growing needs of the child care sector at a critical time.

Doing this work reminds us that we are not only just supporting child care providers, but also a whole ecosystem that is working to raise the next generation. We’re excited about what’s ahead and grateful to everyone who has supported BuildUp Oregon.
